3D Printing / Painted Models / Aloy

Aloy - Horizon Zero Dawn

The 3d printable model was designed by EdytheCross3D(now NomNom Figures, along with EllaArt). In spite of the many flaws in both my 3d print and in my paint job, I’m pretty happy with the end results. There are a lot of flaws in the paint that show up in the photos, but you can’t really see with the naked eye. I’m particularly happy with the texture of her leather pouches, which I did not have a clue how I was going to paint when I started. Also glad I chose to use some artificial plants and flowers to add to the foliage. I still wish I had used pigment powders to add additional weathering and effects, but I plan to work on that for future projects. It took about 30-35 hours to paint and finish, mostly due to this only being my third painted model, and I worked pretty slowly, as well as repainted many areas several times. I didn’t track the time to print, clean, and sand the parts. I’m planning to use time-tracking software in the future, to track the time spent on the entire process, start to finish.
